What is PeakSmart air conditioning?
PeakSmart air-conditioning helps reduce the peak demand on the electricity grid/generation equipment. When the supply authority (Energex) has a peak in demand they may use the PeakSmart device to lower the output of the air conditioner and therefor reducing the overal demand on the grid. According to Energex they only operate the PeakSmart device for short periods and only on a few select days. Under normal circumstances you will never notice the device is connected.

By reducing peak demand on the grid Energex do not have to spend as much money on upgrades and that’s why Energex are offering you a rebate for installing the PeakSmart devices – the rebate can be for as much as $400. Households can claim up to five rewards per premise for any type of PeakSmart enabled air conditioner where a signal receiver is installed.
